DIABLO, KETA

All About Keta . . .

I live on a historical, environmental lake where the cold wind blows and snowflakes in the winter are as prevalent as mosquitoes in the summer. Only a mile from a quaint resort town on one of my state’s northern lakes, tourists come in caravans to shop, water ski, and cruise the lakes from sunup to sundown.

I write erotic historical romance and erotic fantasy. Visit my blog and my bookshelf page on web site and be sure to sign my guestbook!

Q: What do I do in my spare time?

A: What's 'spare time'? As a reporter for a local newspaper, when I'm not covering County Board meetings and various City Council Meetings, I read, dabble in genealogy, and write...and then write some more.

Q: How did I get the "bug" to write?

A: When a fifth grade teacher placed a copy of To Kill a Mockingbird on my desk and encouraged me to take it home and read it. I fell in love with Scout, Jem, and Atticus and marveled at Harper Lee's ability to transport me to another time and place. And then, of course, there was Gone With The Wind. A historical masterpiece. I've been writing in one form or another ever since.

Q: What do I love more than writing?

A: Hmm. It's a toss up, but I love hearing from my readers and corresponding with them. I especially love the e-mails from strangers who tell me my books granted them a small reprieve from the angst of every day life. If I can transport them to another world, offer a means of temporary escape and they still remember the book days after they put it down, I've accomplished my goal. WOOT!

Q: What are my pet peeves?

A: Abuse and neglect of animals. I'm a frequent visitor to the local Humane Society and recently adopted an eight year old furry cat, a loving feline who was abandoned by her long-time family when they moved. Go figure? They took their furniture but left their beloved pet behind. Emma wouldn't look at me or respond during our weekly sessions at the animal shelter. Despondent beyond imagination, she turned her butt to the visitors with her face to the wall. The staff said she wouldn't eat, would barely take water, and they didn't know if she would make it. The next day, I brought Emma home and we've been bonded at the hip ever since. She loves to sit by my computer mouse and harass me for attention. Maybe she takes the word "mouse" literally??? Anyway, I'm off again this afternoon to visit the abandoned pets. If I don't stop bringing them home, I'll have to forget about writing and like my family says, "Get a real job!"

Q: What do I love?

A: The smell of the earth after a thunderstorm, soy candles, jasmine soap, stationary, and books! Did I mention books? Oh yeah, and I love Barnes and Noble® and Borders®. I'm there so much, several people have asked me where to find the section on science-fiction. Do I look like I work there or what? I dearly love my children and every other member of my family, daughter-in-laws included!

Q: What are my aspirations in life?

A: To live life to the fullest, say one kind thing to someone every day, hug my kids often, and live up to the words Choice Determines Destiny, Not Chance. Another motto I live by, Old Age Ain't Made For Sissies. Not that I'm old yet, but I keep enforcing the idea that when I am, I can do it.
